"Fond Memories Do Linger"
by Barbara (Bangs) Krueger, about the author

I remember having our closing circle every night after vespers. We'd gather on the lawn, holding hands, and sing our closing song for the evening. There was nothing better or sweeter in my mind than 75 girls singing! We'd break into harmony, and it was a sweet smelling offering to the Lord, I'm sure. There were nights when I'd walk with Carolyn to that circle, or walk to my cabin with her afterward. And, she would say "I can't wait for our great big Tapawingo reunion in
heaven some day. Won't that be something?" Although Carolyn lived every moment here on this earth for Jesus, and for the kids she impacted through Tapawingo and the schools in North Carolina -- she was counting the days, even then 30+ years' ago, when she would meet her Savior Jesus in heaven. Although I counted Carolyn as a member of MY family -- how blessed I am that she helped me grow as a member of HIS family, so that we WILL have all of eternity to enjoy...together with God! I have no doubt that Carolyn Ray is already planning that Tapawingo reunion! Oh, fond memories do linger, Miss Carolyn. Fond memories, and the challenge to live for Jesus every moment of my life! Thank You, God, for the life and ministry of this Godliest of women. Thank You, Jesus, for her example -- that she lived and modeled you before each of us. How blessed we have all been to have been under her leadership. She is heaven's gain.

"A True Sister in Christ"
by Judy Hardin, about the author

Miss Carolyn became "like family to me" over the 28 years that she was a friend. At Camp she encouraged me in my faith, she prayed for me, and she stretched me in areas in order to take me out of my comfort zone..."a true sister in Christ". Carolyn had such a fun personality and it always seemed to bring out my sense of humor so that we often laughed together and enjoyed many fun times..."a true sister in Christ". Because of her strong faith, she believed in me and challenged me beyond my set boundaries..."a true sister in Christ". Observing her walk with the Lord in her own personal times with Him, taught me much about our dependence on the Lord through her example..."a true sister in Christ". When I would come home on furlough from Germany, Carolyn would open her home to me as a place to rest and recover. I became her guest for the time that I needed a place to stay. Her door was always open for me during those times..."a true friend in Christ". So my relationship with Miss Carolyn started at Tapawingo, but extended even into her world in North Carolina...because she became "a true sister in Christ"...she is greatly missed!
