Decades of Musical Excellence
Today, we’d like to thank Dr. John and Kathy Winkler for their dedication to the CAMP-of-the-WOODS Music Program! Since their start in 2001, they have always been visionaries with a heart for musical excellence while dedicating their talents and time to honoring the Lord.
Their musicianship and love for Christ merged classical and orchestral performance with contemporary worship, a true phenomenon in the music industry that they brought for our members’ enjoyment over the years.
Since the Summer of 2001, this dynamic duo has led more than 300+ weekend concerts and 1,000+ worship services at CAMP-of-the-WOODS.

Dr. John and Kathy Winkler have blessed many staff with their knowledge, expertise, friendship, and leadership. Technical Production Manager, Ian Morley, says, “Working with John & Kathy over the past decade has been a great journey filled with growth, collaboration, and friendship. Their dedication to excellence, creativity, and mentorship of musicians in a Christian environment has been inspiring. Wishing them all the best."
Many Music Staff have said, “The Winklers have been a great and nurturing influence on our spiritual growth since we first came to COTW. We have loved working with them not only for the benefit of our growth as professional musicians but most strikingly, in how they have encouraged us in our daily walk with Christ. Dr. John’s steady and prayerful character has spoken most into our gracious duty to share our joys and sorrows with our loving and Almighty God. Mrs. Winkler, always mindful of where we are at in life and what concerns we share with her, has greatly impacted how we interact with others and how we can better pray for them. As a couple, their passion for people cannot go unnoticed and beautifully reflects God’s passion for His people.”
