Missionary Support FAQs

  • The Missions Committee believes that missionaries and mission projects are more effective when working under an established missions agency which is a member of ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). The Committee will give preference to missionaries and projects who serve under agencies having a reputation for integrity and stability, whose doctrinal statements are true to the Word of God and in agreement with the GVI Doctrinal Statement, who demonstrate good management. Less preference will be given to missionaries and projects who are independent of such sponsorship and direction.

  • Support levels will be determined case-by-case for each missions application. Missionaries and projects that are among strategic areas may be initially supported at a higher financial amount than other missionaries or projects. Strategic areas are defined as:

    1. Restricted access countries (many nations in the world restrict access to the gospel for the people within its borders, requiring non-missionary identity and pioneer approaches/creative strategies)

    2. Among a least-reached people group (Least-reached – no viable indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize their own people without cross-cultural access.)

    3. Language groups that have no Bible translation

    4. Countries that are predominantly Hindu, Tribal, Muslim, Buddhist

  • 1. Support monies will be disbursed in a yearly lump sum each October, pending approval of the Board of Directors and available funds.
