About Sigo Vivo Evangelical Street Church
Bryan and Judy Hollinger are dedicated missionaries and generational members of COTW, supporting the Sigo Vivo Evangelical Street Church in Guatemala City. The name "Sigo Vivo," which means "Jesus is still alive," comes from John 14:19: "Because I live, you also will live."
Guatemala City has a large homeless population. Sigo Vivo exists to serve this community by offering Spanish literacy lessons for adults, tutoring school-aged children, and facilitating addiction recovery groups. The ministry focuses on building relationships, fostering peer fellowship and accountability, and empowering individuals through the love and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Currently, Sigo Vivo rents a small space every Saturday for its activities. However, the team is fundraising to purchase a permanent property that will allow them to establish a center for their ministry efforts.
Looking Ahead
Multiplication Strategy: Equip local believers to lead literacy efforts, small groups, recovery support, and children’s ministry within their own communities.
Leadership Development: Create training and curriculum that help churches engage complex cultural issues with clarity and compassion.
Scripture Saturation: Encourage regular Bible study through street church, neighborhood groups, prison visits, and one-on-one discipleship so Scripture shapes daily life.
Community Impact: Continue weekly outreach with SigoVivo while also supporting families, prisoners, and neighbors.
Long-Term Hope: Secure a permanent space for SigoVivo to host fellowship, recovery programs, literacy classes, childcare, counseling, food distribution, and medical care.
Project Goals
Primary Aim: To share the gospel through evangelism, discipleship, literacy training, counseling, addiction recovery, children’s ministry, and developmental support.
Contextualized Approach: Serve people in accessible ways: street church gatherings, neighborhood friendships, therapy consultations, and community classes shaped to local needs.
Discipleship Foundations: Build spiritual growth through teaching Scripture, guiding recovery, supporting families, and mentoring leaders.
Addressing the Need: Respond to major gaps in literacy, addiction care, developmental therapy, and emotional support by offering consistent help where few resources exist.
Overcoming Barriers: Work with SigoVivo, San Lorenzo, Centro Esdras, Serge International, and our neighborhood to overcome poverty, stigma, and language challenges through friendship and trust.
