Our Beliefs

At Tapawingo, everything we do, whether it’s canoeing on the lake, worshipping by the fire, or sharing a meal together, is shaped by our love for Jesus and the truth of God’s Word. Our statement of faith expresses the biblical convictions that guide our ministry and camp life.

Statement of Faith Overview

We believe in the divine authority of the 66 books of the Bible alone.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ in one person with two distinct natures.
We believe that all mankind is lost eternally without Jesus Christ.
We believe in the substitutionary atonement as well as the physical bodily resurrection and ascension into Heaven of Jesus Christ.
We believe that the only way to heaven is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, apart from any good works on our part.
We believe in the physical return of Jesus Christ and that everyone will spend eternity consciously and bodily in either heaven or hell.

As a ministry arm of Gospel Volunteers, Inc., we affirm the same Statement of Faith that all our staff agree to affirm.

What We Teach

  • The Problem of Sin

God created the world perfect, including the first people, Adam and Eve (Genesis 1:1). But when they disobeyed God, sin entered the world (Genesis 2:17, Romans 5:12). Since then, every person has been born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from a holy God and leads to spiritual death (Romans 6:23a).

  • The Good News

God did not leave us without hope. In His love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a sinless life, die on the cross for our sins, and rise again on the third day (Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 8:34). Because of His death and resurrection, we can be forgiven and receive eternal life as a free gift of God’s grace (Romans 6:23b, Ephesians 2:8–9).

  • Responding in Faith

Salvation is received through repenting of sin and trusting in Jesus as Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9–10, Mark 1:15). The Bible promises, “To all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). We take this step of faith by believing in who Jesus is and what He has done for us (Hebrews 7:25).

  • Growing in Christ

When you trust in Jesus, nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38–39). God begins a good work in you and will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). Growing as a Christian means learning to love God, follow His Word, and walk in His ways, together with other believers.
