About TEE Cambodia
The first long-term evangelical missionaries to Cambodia were Arthur and Esther Hammond, grandparents of Jim Hammond. As a result of Jim and Debbi's recent attendance at the 100th-anniversary celebration of the Gospel's arrival in Cambodia, God has brought into view a strategic opportunity for COTW to join in Kingdom impact in that country.
Theological Education by Extension (TEE) has been used extensively in Cambodia, discipling new believers and training church leaders. Weekly training is accomplished in churches and homes with approximately 1,100 current students, multiplying gospel impact throughout Cambodia.
COTW is partnering with the TEE program to expand into new areas of Cambodia and strengthen the quality of the program materials. Currently, they are moving forward in translating, contextualizing, and field-testing the GOD of the WORD Bible study material that COTW is also using for its discipleship purposes. They anticipate completing two books per year, taking four years to complete all eight of these Bible study books.
Looking Ahead
Multiplication Strategy: Strengthen local leaders who can start and sustain new TEE Cambodia classes, multiplying biblical training across many denominations and regions.
Leadership Development: Support the TEE Cambodia Board as each member launches new classes in their home churches and seeks out additional congregations ready to join the program.
Scripture Saturation: Encourage regular Bible study through TEE materials so believers grow in knowledge, obedience, and practical ministry skills.
Community Impact: Pray for the search for a new Executive Director who can guide TEE Cambodia forward and for Dr. Meng Aun as he carries the interim role alongside his existing ministries.
Long-Term Hope: That the ministry will continue to spread across Cambodia, forming mature believers and well-equipped leaders who strengthen their churches and communities through grounded, faithful teaching.
Project Goals
Primary Aim: Expanding biblical training through new TEE Cambodia classes in churches across Cambodia—Baptist, evangelical Methodist, evangelical Presbyterian, and even a Chinese congregation in Phnom Penh.
Contextualized Approach: Launch TEE Cambodia groups inside local churches so believers can study Scripture, grow in faith, and learn ministry skills in familiar, accessible settings.
Discipleship Foundations: Equip students with simple tools for reading, discussing, and applying the Bible so they can mature in Christ and serve within their own church communities.
Addressing the Need: Respond to the growing demand for solid biblical training, especially in regions where pastors and lay leaders have limited access to formal theological education.
Overcoming Barriers: Partner with groups like OMF Cambodia, whose teams in NE Cambodia have now committed to starting new classes, helping TEE Cambodia reach areas that are hard to serve.
